The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef is a multi-stakeholder initiative developed to advance, support and communicate continuous improvement in sustainability of the U.S. beef value chain. The USRSB achieves this through the leadership, innovation, engagement and collaboration of its members as they demonstrate their commitment to continuously improving the sustainability of beef. Membership also provides an opportunity to engage with leaders throughout the beef value chain to shape the dialogue of beef sustainability and contribute to the long-term viability of the U.S. beef industry.

Current Members

The USRSB membership is comprised of the following five constituencies: Producers: Individuals, organizations and associations of people who are actively engaged in the ownership and management of cattle used to produce beef; Allied Industry: Organizations and associations of people who supply the beef value chain with goods and services, including but not limited to financial institutions; Processors: Organizations and associations of people who process cattle and beef into saleable product; Retail: Organizations and associations of people who bring beef and beef-related products to consumers; and Civil Society: Academic institutions, non-government and non-commercial institutions, foundations, alliances and associations with a stake in the beef value chain. Membership Responsibilities

Members are required to adhere to U.S. anti-trust laws and must support and publicly advocate for all elements of the Vision and Mission of the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef. Members must demonstrate their desire and ability to engage in constructive dialogue in furtherance of the USRSB’s goals. Members are responsible for ensuring that their commitment to the objectives of the USRSB are substantiated by adequate financial and personnel resources within their organization, noting that the USRSB supports engagement from differing perspectives where constructive conflict is welcomed as long as it is in furtherance of the organization’s Vision and Mission. Specific membership responsibilities include:p>

  • Adherence to U.S. anti-trust laws
  • Support and publicly advocate for all elements of the Vision, Mission and work of USRSB
  • Support and contribute to the outcomes of the working groups
  • Provide leadership in and from your area in the beef value chain
  • Be a member of one of the five identified beef value chain constituencies
  • Pay annual membership dues. (Oct. 1 - Sept. 30 fiscal year.)

Thank you for your interest in joining the U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef. To process your application please submit this completed membership application to the USRSB Administrator, who shall review the application for completeness and submit to the Membership Committee for review and follow up. Upon receipt, applications will be reviewed in accordance with the guiding principles and guidelines for membership acceptance. Applications that meet the necessary requirements will then be sent to the Board of Directors for further evaluation and consideration along with any accompanying recommendations made by the Membership Committee. Please note that while the USRSB will make every attempt to review and respond to each member application within 30 calendar days of submission, the USRSB makes no commitment regarding the amount of time needed to review an application. The Board of Directors will vote to accept or reject an applicant organization based upon the organization’s commitment to sustainable beef and validity of stakeholder interest. Subsequently, prospective members will receive notification from the USRSB Administrator regarding the determination of their application. Correspondingly, accepted members will receive an USRSB Membership Letter of Agreement confirming their commitment as well as a dues invoice to process their membership.For questions or additional information, please contact the USRSB Administrator at USRSB@beef.org.

Application

Membership acceptance is voted upon by the Board of Directors following review of the membership application. Following Board of Director approval, you will receive a USRSB Membership Letter of Agreement for your signature as well as a dues invoice.

Basic Information

 

 

 

 

 

The Indicator & Goals for Progress Working Group (IWG) will develop indicators and metrics for each segment of the beef value chain, which will continue to be re-evaluated and built upon in the future. The IWG will also develop guidance documents and resources to aid in interpretation and self-evaluation against each metric, which will be encompassed in a metric toolkit.

The Engagement, Measurement & Progress Working Group (EMPWG) will establish and manage sector-specific Sustainability Assessment Guides; develop guidelines and processes to review external projects, field trials, pilot projects and resources that support the vision and mission of the roundtable; and cultivate supporting materials for supply chain implementation of 2nd and 3rd party verification.
