The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) is a collaborative initiative developed to advance, support and communicate continuous improvement of sustainability across the U.S. beef value-chain; and aims for the U.S. beef value chain to be the trusted global leader in environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically viable beef.

The USRSB is governed by a Board of Directors, made up of four representatives from each member constituency group (Producer Associations, Allied Industry, Packer/Processor, Retail/Food Service, and Civil Society), for a total of twenty Directors, half being “Alternate Directors” appointed by their “Primary Director”. Each constituency group elects two Primary Directors to the Board of Directors. Primary Directors then appoint one Alternate Director. A member of the Board of Directors may only represent one constituency at any given time. A Primary Director may be re-elected by a constituency group for more than one term. As the initial Board of Director terms were staggered to ensure continuity for subsequent years, only one seat from each constituency will be set for election upon term expiration, except in the case of a Director being selected to serve as the ChairElect at the end of the first year of his/her two-year term, in which case there will be an automatic extension of the term by one year.

The Board of Directors will oversee and direct the activities of the USRSB and approve the work, programs, and policies of the organization. USRSB Directors must have a broad working knowledge of the USRSBs Vision, Mission, and objectives and a high level of understanding in sustainable beef production from the perspective of his/her segment of the industry and a strong interest in the sustainability of the entire beef chain. As the Board of Directors is a representation of the membership, it is the responsibility of each constituency to seek balanced representation within their constituency through the nomination and election process.

A Director elected in this election will serve a two-year term following appointment at the annual USRSB General Assembly Meeting.
